For the captive accommodation of operating instructions, an orifice for receiving a multiplicity of individual sheets of these operating instructions is provided in a sewing-machine housing illustrated in Figure 2. The individual sheets are connected to one another by means of a hinge element which is fastened to the housing within the orifice. To achieve a constructively simple design, the hinge element carries a plurality of ring eyes which pass through correspondingly matched slots in the individual sheets, and is connected to the housing by means of detent pawls.
