PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a book and a managing method thereof with which the inventory or the like of books on a bookshelf or the like can be performed in a short time with high efficiency at a bookstore or the like. SOLUTION: A code 14 containing the managing information of a book 200 is added on the main body of a book, a cover, a blurbband or a back cover section of a case in a prescribed distance from its lower side. In the state of parallelly placing the book 200, to which this code is applied, on a bookshelf 120, the code 14 applied to the back cover section is laterally read by an external reader 50 and based on that information, the book 200 is managed. It is preferable that the code 14 is applied by the transparent ink readable for the external reader 50 such as ion ink or infrared absorption ink, for example, and it is preferable that this code 14 is a two-dimensional code. |
