PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sustain ink in normal state and to sustain good ink ejection of a recording head by preventing backflow of ink to an ink cartridge when the ink cartridge is set in a recorder body. SOLUTION: When an ink cartridge is set in a recorder body, a valve unit 23 on the ink supply side is opened by an ink supply pipe 12, and a valve unit 24 on the atmosphere introduction side is opened by an operating member 67. An ink chamber 16 is in the state of reduced pressure under packaged state, and when the valve units are opened, atmosphere is supplied through the valve unit 24 and a hollow tubular member 62 to the upper part of the ink chamber 16. At the same time, ink in the ink supply pipe 12 flows backward to the ink chamber 16 side, but it is blocked by a check valve 60. Under normal state, umbrella part 60c of the check valve 60 is spaced apart from an ink supply port 1d so that ink can be supplied from the ink chamber 16 to the ink supply pipe 12 while allowing slight backflow of ink incident to pressure variation.
