PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent gradation from being deteriorated due to reduction in a substantial gradation number of an output image even if a gradation level number of an input image and a gradation level number of an output image are the same. SOLUTION: An image input section 1 receives image data in 8-bit (256 gradation). A gradation conversion section 3 applies gradation conversion to the received image data into a 29-value of gradation level number based on a conversion characteristic curve stored in a conversion characteristic storage section 2 and gives the result to an image output section 3. The image output section 3 provides of an output of the image data whose gradation is converted into the 29-value gradation level number so as to prevent the substantial gradation of the output image data from being deteriorated. |
