PURPOSE:To obtain the title recording medium having extremely excellent antistatic property and traveling property by setting the surface charges of the front and the rear surface of the magnetic recording medium to the same polarity. CONSTITUTION:The surface charges of the front and the rear surface of a magnetic recording medium are set to the same polarity. For the purpose, it is preferable that the surface charges of a magnetic layer and a substrate, of the magnetic layer and a backcoat layer and of the magnetic layers on the front and the rear surface are positive or negative and have same polarity in the respective mediums. Accordingly, magnetic powder which is easy to positively charge or easy to negatively charge must be selected. Consequently, sticking is not caused due to the electrical repulsion even when the mediums are laminated on each other and a tape without disorderly or loose winding of the tape and having an excellent traveling property can be obtained.
