The method involves using a non-invasive coupling device for coupling a reference system (14) to an elongated object (2) e.g. upper leg. A location corresponding to a location of the reference system relative to a reference system (12) and another location corresponding to a location of a reference point (18) on the object relative to the reference system (12), are ascertained and stored. The object is separated from an elongated object (8) i.e. pelvic bone, at a ball joint (10). The altered objects are re-assembled to form the joint. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a computer program stored on a machine readable medium for determining a change in an object (2) a device for determining a dimensional change of an object. |
