<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a dielectric porcelain composition which has a high dielectric constant and where a short circuit fraction defective is reduced even if a dielectric layer is thinned when used for dielectric layers in electronic components such as laminated ceramic capacitors and the like. <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing the dielectric porcelain composition which has a main component containing a dielectric oxide having the compositional formula denoted as (Ba<SB>1-x</SB>Ca<SB>x</SB>)<SB>m</SB>(Ti<SB>1-y</SB>Zr<SB>y</SB>)O<SB>3</SB>(wherein, 0.995≤m≤1.020; 0≤x≤0.15; and 0≤y≤1.00) and an additional auxiliary component except the main component is provided. The method has a step to obtain a dielectric raw material by mixing the raw material powder of the main component and the raw material powder of the additional auxiliary component and a step to fire the dielectric raw material.
