An airbag device (10) with an airbag (14) folded behind a door (12) installed in an instrument panel (1), wherein the folded airbag (14) has its bottom surface and lateral surface covered with a partition cloth (34) to separate the airbag (14) from the internal space of the instrument panel (1) so that the airbag (14) may not expand inside the instrument panel (1). The use of such thin light-weight partition cloth (34) to perform the same function as that of metal or mold resin makes it possible to dispense with the conventional case or base plate, achieving weight reduction and compactness for the airbag device.
