<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal for determining the present position based on a month, a date and a time, and on the azimuth and the elevation angle of a heavenly body. <P>SOLUTION: When directing this portable terminal 1 toward the direction of the sun and pushing a measuring start button of an input part 30, an operation processing part 50 takes an output value from an earth magnetism sensor module 10, takes the month, the date and the time from a timepiece 20, and stores them in a memory 60. The operation processing part 50 determines the longitude of the present spot from the relation between a southing time of the sun at a prescribed longitude and the rotation speed of the earth, determines the latitude by using a table showing the relation between the present time stored in the memory 60, the altitude of the sun and the latitude of the present spot, determines the present position on a map therefrom, and displays the result on a display processing part 40. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
