PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reconcile the accuracy and followability of a gamma correction table, when performing calibration by estimating the density of other patch from one measurement patch.SOLUTION: After power is turned on, or during replacement of cartridge, on the first page at the time of environmental variation of temperature or humidity, a gamma correction table with an emphasis on follow-up is generated, by using a patch of intermediate density having a wide allowable range for variation. In the following page, accuracy of a gamma correction table is enhanced, by using a low density patch or a high density patch, having high sensitivity for variation of measurement patch.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
