The cover has a roof with several roof units, which are folded in a storage space of a construction structure of a passenger car. The cover is connected to a main control device (17) by a rear cover switch and a transmission system. The main control device is connected with a component control device (18) of a drive device (13) for the roof. The roof is operated by an operating switch from a lowering position into a loading position and vice versa. The switch and the transmission system stay in connection with the main control device and the component control device. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a roof from a lowering position to a loading position.
