PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent polymerization hindrance due to oxygen in the atmospheric air in an ink jet recorder 100 which uses an ultraviolet curable ink. SOLUTION: The recorder is equipped with a supporting drum 140 which rotates supporting a recording paper 150, a recording part carriage 170 which moves back and forth along a supporting surface 144, a recording head 180 which ejects the ultraviolet curable ink towards the recording paper 150, an ultraviolet irradiation part 162 which irradiates the ultraviolet curable ink with ultraviolet rays, a gas supply port 167 which supplies an inert gas, and an upstream gas guide part 168 which is arranged upstream from the ultraviolet irradiation part 162 along a rotation direction of the supporting drum 140 and guides the inert gas supplied from the gas supply port 167 along a surface of the recording paper 150 supported by the supporting drum 140. The inert gas is interposed between the atmospheric air and a surface of the ultraviolet curable ink adhered to the recording paper 150 and not cured yet after ejected from the recording head 180.
