DISPLAY SUBSTRATE AND DISPLAY APPARATUS HAVING THE SAME

A display substrate and a display device having the display substrate are provided to form a light block layer instead of a black matrix on a display substrate using a metal for forming a gate line or a data line to improve transmissivity and reduce the manufacturing cost. A display substrate includes a TFT(Thin Film Transistor) layer, a passivation layer, a color filter layer(230), a pixel electrode, and a light blocking layer(250). The TFT layer includes a gate line(211), a data line(213) which is insulated from the gate line using a gate insulating layer and intersects the gate line, a TFT connected to the gate line and the data line, and a storage electrode(214). The passivation layer covers the TFT layer. The color filter layer is formed on the passivation layer. The pixel electrode is formed on the color filter layer and corresponds to each pixel. The light blocking layer is formed on the TFT layer and located between neighboring pixel electrodes.
