ARSENIC-CONTAINING SOLID MATERIAL AND METHOD FOR PRODUCTION THEREOF

Disclosed is an arsenic-containing solid material comprising 100 parts by mass of a scorodite-type iron-arsenic compound and 1 part by mass or more of an iron oxidation compound, wherein the scorodite-type iron-arsenic compound is synthesized by adding an oxidizing agent to an acidic aqueous solution containing a pentavalent arsenic ion and a bivalent arsenic ion to cause the precipitation of the iron-arsenic compound to proceed while agitating the solution, and terminating the precipitation at a pH value of 1.2 or lower. The iron oxidation compound may be goethite, hematite, or a mixture thereof. It is preferred to use an iron oxidation compound having a BET specific surface area of 3 m²/g or more, preferably 20 m²/g or more.
