This walking assistance vehicle prevents falls. The walking assistance vehicle (1) is provided with a motor (5A), (5B), a distance sensor (7), (8), a control unit (10), a grip sensor (12), and a Hall sensor (30). The control unit (10) includes a central processing unit (CPU) (11). The processes executed by the CPU (11) include: a step in which the state of the user (90) of the walking assistance vehicle (1) is determined on the basis of a signal inputted into the control unit (10); a step in which, if it is determined that there is a high likelihood of the user's falling over, in order to prevent the user (90) from falling, a brake is operated or the walking assistance vehicle (1) is driven to approach the user; and a step in which, when the user sits down, the brake is operated if there is no input from a grip sensor, and an electric wheelchair mode is implemented once there is input from the grip sensor. |
