Beer production filter consists of a vessel which is divided into upper and lower sections by a panel. A number of tubular filters (1) project above and below the panel. Beer rises from the base of the vessel through the tubular filters, at the top of which a spiral-wound wire basket restrains particulate matter. The upper section of each filter (1) consists of wire (2) wound spirally around a frame (4) of rods (5). The gaps (7) between adjacent windings are regular. A hoop (11) and extension (10) are welded to the bottom of the filter (1) rods (5). The improvement is that: (a) the frame (4) rods (5) are secured together in a bunch near the lower zone (8) of the filter where they are welded to a hoop (11) and lower extension (10); (b) the gaps between the bottom-most (3) three to five wire windings (8) and the hoop (11) is of the same size as that (7) between the higher windings; (c) the bottom most wire windings are (3) ground flat; (c) also claimed is a welding process to manufacture the filter in which the lower limits (8) of the rods (5) are heated and welded to the hoop (11).
