PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positive sealing effect even when processing fine powder with high fluidity and high polishing performance in an inexpensive and simple air seal system. SOLUTION: In the shaft seal device for the powder processing device 10, sealing is carried out between a powder processing container 1 provided with an agitating means in an interior, and a rotary drive shaft 2 inserted from a container end wall 1a into the powder processing container 1 for driving the agitating means. It is provided with a housing 11 having an air chamber 11a in an interior, and airtightly arranged on the container end wall 1a in a state pierced by the rotary drive shaft 2, a pressurized air supply source P supplying pressurized air into the air chamber 11a, and a cylindrical seal collar 12 coaxially arranged in a contactless state with respect to the rotary drive shaft 2 in a container end wall 1a side of the air chamber 11a, and forming a very small seal gap allowing passage of the pressurized air in a space with the rotary drive shaft 2. Preferably, the seal gap is within 1mm, and a flow velocity of the pressurized air in the seal gap is 15cm/sec or more. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
