PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for simply removing unnecessary portions of the other substrate which are left so as to cover electrode taking-out portions in a liquid crystal element using flexible substrates and having the electrode taking-out portions provided on one substrate exposed by recessed parts of the other substrate. SOLUTION: The other mother substrate 31 completing up to a rubbing process is precut like U shapes along recessed parts of respective sections (slits 32, 33, 34). After sticking one mother substrate 35 to the other mother substrate 31, the substrate remaining on positions (recessed parts of the upper substrate) opposed to the electrode taking-out portions is removed in a strip process or an external processing process.
