PURPOSE: To provide a position registration system that can reduce traffic of a data transmission channel between a mobile communication terminal and a location register. CONSTITUTION: The position registration system 10 is configured with a mobile communication terminal 12 and with the location register 14 that makes position registration of the mobile communication terminal 12. The location register 14 is provided with a storage section 16 that stores the number of congestion times of the mobile communication terminal 12, a position registration period decision section 18 that decides a period for position registration of the mobile communication terminal 12 on the basis of the number of the congestion times of the mobile communication terminal 12 stored in the storage section 16, and a position registration control section 20 that transmits the period of the position registration decided by the position registration period decision section 18 to the mobile communication terminal 12, receives the position information of the mobile communication terminal 12 sent from the mobile communication terminal 12 depending on the period of the position registration that is transmitted and makes position registration of the mobile communication terminal 12 on the basis of the received position information.
