One aspect of the present invention relates to a method for adjusting periodic tracking area update (P-TAU) timing of a terminal in a wireless communication system. The method may comprise the steps of: sending, to a mobility management entity (MME), P-TAU support information indicating that adjustment of the P-TAU timing is possible through an attach request message or a TAU request message; receiving a request approval message for the attach request message or the TAU request message; and, when the request approval message contains P-TAU timing adjustment condition information, adjusting the P-TAU timing to conform to eDRX application timing on the basis of the P-TAU timing adjustment condition information.
