PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a device, to improve carrying accuracy, and to lengthen the service life by forming a sheet carrying device as a double structure composed of a sheet carrying outside belt and a sheet attracting inside belt, and arranging an electrostatic attracting means on the inside belt. SOLUTION: An outside belt 4 is tensioned by a driving roller 6 connected to a driving motor 9, a driven roller 7 and a pressure roller 8. An inside belt 5 is tensioned by two driven rollers 12, 13 to be allowed to abut to the outside belt 4 in a position opposed to a recording head to be rotated by being driven by driving of the outside belt 4 to be made to function as a platen to the outside belt 4. A comb-teeth electrode by alternately arranging electrodes having respectively positive or negative different polarity is laid on the inside belt 5 as an electrostatic attracting means to impress DC high voltage of different polarity via a power supply brush 16 to generate electrostatic force. The inside belt 5 can be formed of a cylindrical sheet-like single construction material, can be formed in an endless shape having high dimensional accuracy by metal mold molding, and can record a high quality image.
