PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading apparatus, capable of inhibiting further degradation of manuscript image readout quality.SOLUTION: An image reading apparatus 1 includes: a readout part 3 for reading an image of a manuscript; transfer means 10 for transferring the manuscript along a transfer route P1 that passes through the readout part 3; a detection part 60 disposed on the transfer route P1 at the upstream side of the readout part 3, for detecting the position of the manuscript to be transferred; and a holding part 50 for holding the detection part 60. The transfer means 10 includes: a first transfer roller 11 disposed on the transfer route P1 at the upstream side of the readout part 3, for transferring the manuscript to the readout part 3; and a first rotation axis 11S having a first transfer roller 11 fixed thereto, for driving the first transfer roller 11 to rotate. While allowing the first rotation axis 11S to rotate, the holding part 50 is supported by the first rotation axis 11S. |
