<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a holding material for a catalytic converter, the cost of which is reduced and which has an excellent heat insulation property by using an inexpensive heat insulation material excellent in the heat insulation property for the holding material for the catalytic converter. <P>SOLUTION: The holding material for a catalytic converter is provided in a gap between a cylindrical catalyst carrier and a casing that accommodates the catalyst carrier therein. The holding material for the catalytic converter includes: a holding section constituted of a first inorganic fiber of which the heat shrinkage at 1,000°C is 1% or less; and a heat insulation section which is disposed adjacently to the holding section and constituted of a second inorganic fiber of which the heat shrinkage at 1,000°C exceeds 1%. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
