PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the damaging possibility of the already cut surface of a sample block and to arrange the already cut surface of the sample block so as to easily make the same parallel to the virtual cutting surface of a knife in a non-contact state, even when the sample block is set to an apparatus different from a previously set apparatus. SOLUTION: The automatic slicing apparatus is equipped with a sample block stage 10 for supporting the sample block B, in a state where the angle of inclination of the already cut surface B2 of the sample block can be adjusted by an angle-of-inclination variable means; a dummy block stage 11 for supporting a dummy block D; a knife 12 which is relatively moved, with respect to the sample block supported on the automatic slicing apparatus and the dummy block, supported on the dummy block stage to respectively cut the sample block and the dummy block and an automatic collimator 13 for detecting the shift in the angle of inclination of the already cut surface B2 of the sample block supported on the sample block stage; and the angle of inclination of the cut surface D2, due to the knife of the dummy block supported on the dummy block stage.
