<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data retrieval system for efficiently retrieving data while maintaining confidentiality of data, and a data retrieval device, a data retrieval method, a data retrieval program and a recording medium. <P>SOLUTION: An image retrieval device 10 in an image retrieval system 1 stores retrieved data non-reversibly encoded by a registrant device 20, in a retrieved data storage section 44, and when a query word is input from a user device 30, the non-reversible code converting section 41 non-reversibly encodes the input query word by the same non-reversible encoding method. A collation processing section 42 collates the non-reversibly encoded query word with the non-reversibly encoded retrieved data taken out of the retrieved data storage section 44 by a document takeout section 43 for retrieval.
