Device and method of measuring lightning currents

The device (1) has a lightning capturing unit (3) receiving direct discharge of lightning, and a monoblock discharging conductor (4) discharging lightning current. The conductor is destituted of a charging component that disturbs the discharging of the current. A lightning current estimating unit (10) is electrically connected to the conductor to measure voltage which appears between high and low measuring terminals of a test section of the conductor when the conductor is traversed by the lightning current. An electronic card type programmable/programmed processing unit controls the unit (10). An independent claim is also included for a method for measuring the lightning current in an equipment.
