PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealing method and a sealing device preventing intrusion of atmospheric air into a ladle from a clearance between the ladle and a cover in molten steel treatment by the ladle. SOLUTION: A ring-shaped member 14 disposed along an outer periphery of the ladle cover 7 and having a rectangular cross-section vertically extending to a lower part of the ladle cover, is fitted to a ring-shaped member 15 disposed along an outer periphery at an upper end side of the ladle 9 and having a wedge-shaped cross-section taking the form of an acute angle at an upper part. The ring-shaped member having the wedge-shaped cross section and taking the form of an acute angle at an upper part, is disposed along a seal ring and the outer periphery at the upper end side of the ladle, the seal ring has an inner diameter roughly same as an inner diameter of the ladle, a ring outer diameter has a dimension to make the ring-shaped member disposed along the outer periphery of the ring and having the rectangular cross-section, fittable to the ring-shaped member disposed along the outer periphery at the upper end side of the ladle and having the wedge-shaped cross section taking the form of an acute angle at an upper part, and the seal ring can be suspended by an overhead crane.
