PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an autofocusing camera capable of preventing wasteful AF preliminary irradiation. SOLUTION: This autofocusing camera is equipped with a range-finding means equipped with a range-finding sensor receiving and integrating subject light and measuring a subject distance by making the range-finding sensor perform integrating operation, a preliminary irradiation means for irradiating a subject with auxiliary light for range-finding, a decision means for deciding whether or not the AF preliminary irradiation by the preliminary irradiation means is required based on the variation of the integrated value of the range- finding sensor, and a control means for making the preliminary irradiation means perform the AF preliminary irradiation at the time of integration by the range-finding sensor when the decision means decides that the AF preliminary irradiation is required. |
