PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine system capable of preventing excessive increase of internal combustion pressure of a main machine in using a supercharger while switching its power generating function and a VTI function.SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine system including a supercharger 3 having a turbine portion 3a driven by an exhaust gas from a main machine 2, a compressor portion 3b driven by the turbine portion 3a and force-feeding air to the main machine 2, a power generator 3c generating electric power by getting toque of the turbine portion 3a, and a turbine nozzle passing area variable mechanism 3g for making a turbine nozzle passing area of an exhaust gas supplied to the turbine portion 3a variable. The internal combustion pressure of the main machine 2 is restricted to be less than a prescribed value when a power generation stopping operation for stopping power generation by the power generator 3c, and a turbine nozzle area reducing operation for reducing a turbine nozzle passing area by the turbine nozzle passing area variable mechanism 3g are executed.
