METHOD FOR SETTING UP THE PASSWORD AND SYSTEM FOR USING THE SAME

A method for setting up a password and a computing system using the same are provided to drive power of a computing device through a password authentication processing by setting up the unique password to each user with a remote controller. The remote controller(100) turns on the power of the computing device(200) and inputs the password. A microcomputer(210) receives data for the inputted password and transfers the received data to a BIOS(Basic Input/Output System)(220). The BIOS receives the data for the password from the microcomputer and writes/stores the received data to a memory(230). The memory stores the password data received from the BIOS. The microcomputer determines match between the password inputted from the user and the preset password. The microcomputer performs a POST(Power-On Self-Test) process by booting the computing device if the password is matched and turns off the power of the computing device if not. The memory includes an EEPROM(Electronically Erasable Programmable ROM).
