A method and an apparatus for controlling the output time of video data are provided to always and constantly maintain the vertical shaft array of the output image. A timing process related to the time between the horizontal synchronization signals is performed(100). The timing time is compared with the mean time of the previous timing time(102). If the timing time is T3 at the timing process, the mean time of time T1 and T2 before the T3 is calculated and then the size of the calculated time is compared with that of the present timing time. According to the comparison result, the output time point of the video data for forming an image is controlled(104).
