The present invention provides a method and apparatus for storing digital image data files. The proposed method comprises steps of: acquiring description information of an image data file to be stored; comparing the description information of the image data file and description information of a share data unit, to determine a similarity between the image data file and the share data unit; dividing the image data file into specific data section and common data section if the similarity reaches a preset requirement, wherein the common data section can be restored based on the share data unit; generating reference restoration information of the common data section with respect to the share data unit; and storing the reference restoration information and specific information of the file. According to the present invention, the storage space occupied is saved and the storage efficiency is improved. |
