PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a packing material which can be also applied to the packing of many kinds of and a small number of articles-to-packed different in size, by making a fixing material for holding the article-to-be-packed movable. SOLUTION: This packing material comprises: an outer container which comprises a container body composed of a bottom portion and a side portion erected from its peripheral edge, and a lid for closing an opening of the container body; and the fixing material which is brought into contact with the article-to-be-packed arranged in the outer container, so as to hold the article. In the fixing material, fixing portions are connected to both ends of a central fixing portion via a hinge portion in such a manner as to be displaceable on the hinge portion as a supporting point from a serial arrangement of the three fixing portions by bringing respective end surfaces into contact with one another to a fold of the fixing portions on both sides by positioning the hinge portion inside, respectively. Either or both of a top surface of the bottom portion of the outer container and an undersurface of the lid is or are provided with a locking means for locking each of the fixing portions on both sides in a plurality of positions in which angles of the bending of the fixing portions on both sides with respect to the central fixing portion are different from each other, respectively.
