PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for reducing volume of rock wool spraying material and recovering it by which work efficiency is made excellent by continuously compacting the rock wool spraying material (waste material) and reducing the volume in a wet process, a rebound phenomenon can be suppressed as far as possible, and scattering of the rock wool spraying material can be prevented, even when a bag is broken. SOLUTION: This method for reducing volume of rock wool spraying material and recovering it comprises processes of: crushing foreign matter-removed rock wool spraying material by a crusher 1 and charging into a press 3; adding water when charging the crushed rock wool spraying material into the press 3; reducing volume of the water-added rock wool spraying material by compacting with the press 3; and extruding the volume-reduced rock wool spraying material from the press 3 for bagging.
