The housing-piston subassembly comprises a piston (4) which is mounted in housing by coupling elements (8) in rotating manner. The rivets (10,12) are provided between the piston and the coupling elements or between the coupling elements and the housing. A support element (20) is positioned between the piston and the coupling elements or between the coupling elements and the housing in a riveting position such that the anvil sections (18) of the support element lie behind the snap head of the respective rivets. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a support element for use in housing-piston subassembly with chain links; (2) an auxiliary device for riveting a housing-piston subassembly; and (3) a method for mounting a housing-piston subassembly.
