The surface sides (4'a,4'b) of aluminum foil (1,4') is arranged extending in rolling direction (5'a). A loose composite is formed in aluminum foil, and is supplied to work rolls. The supplied foil is fed to rolling surface and its average surface roughness is reduced to form motif for a security feature (6). The security feature is applied to surface of the roll-facing surface side (2a) of the aluminum foil, and loose composite and aluminum foil are separated. An independent claim is included for aluminum foil.
