PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide technology reducing troubles caused by backlash of a gear mechanism put between a drive source and a cam in a valve system for an internal combustion engine rotating or oscillating the cam by the drive source independent of the internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: In the valve system for the internal combustion engine provided with a motor rotating or oscillating the cam independently of the internal combustion engine and the gear mechanism transmitting torque generated by the motor to the cam, rotation speed of the motor is increased to avoid tooth hammer when tooth hammer caused by backlash may occur at a meshing part of the gear mechanism.
