Operating method of a transponder and transponder

The method involves wirelessly and bi-directionally transmitting data between a transponder (20) and a base station (10) over an interface (21) that is based on an electromagnetic far field coupling. Security-relevant data such as passwords and authentication operations, are wirelessly and bi-directionally transmitted between the transponder and the base station over another interface (23) that is based on an inductive coupling. The interface (21) is deactivated, when the transponder is selected, and the data transmission is implemented over the interface (23). An independent claim is also included for a transponder for implementing a transponder operating method.
