PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To contribute to provision of recommendation information indicating a recommended category that assures correlation with an item agreeable with a user preference.SOLUTION: An information selection apparatus (10) includes a category selection section (1071) that operates itself so as to select a recommended category recommended by a user from among plural candidate categories on the basis of plural degrees of priority calculated for each of plural candidate categories. Here, each of the plural degrees of priority is calculated by using a degree of item relationship indicating a degree of strength of relationship between a reference item and an item belonging to each candidate category.
