PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tatami (rush mattress for Japanese domestic life) horizontal member capable of absorbing the gap generated at a wall side portion when tatami mats of a standard size are installed, having excellent workability and beautiful appearance, and not generating a trouble that dust is accumulated. SOLUTION: This tatami horizontal member 1 is provided with a wall side member 2 fitted along a wall W and expandable in the width direction, a tatami side member 3 abutting on the side edge section of the tatami mat T adjacently to the wall side member 2, and a flexible upper face member 4 stretched from the upper edge section of the tatami side member 3 to cover the wall side member 2. Since the tatami horizontal member 1 is arranged between the wall side tatami mat T and the wall W, it blocks the gap of the wall side portion and absorbs the variation of the width of the gap of the wall side portion caused by an execution error.
