<p>A base material covered with metal layer characterized by having a base material, metal nanoparticles in dotted or layered form provided on the base material via a silane coupling agent containing a chelate forming functional group, and a metal layer superimposed on the metal nanoparticles in dotted or layered form. Further, there is provided a process for producing a base material covered with metal layer, characterized by including bringing a base material into contact with a water base solution containing a hydrolysis catalyst, a silane coupling agent containing a chelate forming functional group and a metal nanoparticle forming metal salt and treating the resultant mixture with a reducing agent to thereby obtain metal nanoparticles in dotted or layered form provided on the base material via the silane coupling agent containing a chelate forming functional group, and thereafter forming a metal layer on the metal nanoparticles in dotted or layered form.</p> |
