<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of efficiently preventing its temperature rising in the circumstances such as service interruption and short break of an apparatus power source due to the user. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus comprises a heat source part, a cooling device, a part to be protected that necessitates the protection from a heat source and a heat exchanger that transmits heat absorbed from the heat source to a heat radiation part. The heat exchanger is parted from the heat source while the power source of the apparatus is turned on and is brought into contact with the heat source while the power source is turned off. Therein, the image forming apparatus is constituted so that the heat radiation part of the heat exchanger is in contact with a metal part. Further, the heat exchanger is supported by a support member while the power source of the apparatus is turned on. Furthermore, the heat exchanger is moved to the position capable of being supported by the support member as soon as the power source of the apparatus is turned on. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
