PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic focusing device which determines whether a focus evaluated value satisfies a condition with a predetermined evaluated value as reference, and warns a user that there is possibility of erroneous detection when the focal position of a focus lens is decided or automatically actuates a flash according to the result of determination. SOLUTION: The automatic focusing device has: a focus evaluated value acquiring part to acquire the focus evaluated value corresponding to the position of the focus lens; a determination part to determine whether the acquired focus evaluated value satisfies the condition defined by the predetermined evaluated value; and a focal position deciding part to set the position of the focus lens associated with the vicinity of the extremum point of the focus evaluated value as the focal position when obtaining the result of determination showing that the condition is satisfied.
