PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a sealing material which can exhibit excellent sealability by surrounding a linear core material with a layer comprising a thermosetting resin composition being able to retain its shape at room temperature and able to develop melt flowability during thermal curing. SOLUTION: The linear core material is desirably made from a material having such heat resistance as not to be substantially melted or decomposed during heating the thermosetting resin composition. The thermosetting resin composition is desirably a reactive resin composition containing a thermosetting resin and a thermoplastic resin. The thermoplastic resin composition used is one that becomes melt-flowable and is thermoset by heating to 80-200 deg.C. The thermosetting resin is exemplified by an epoxy resin, a urethane (meth)acrylate resin, or an epoxy (meth)acrylate resin. The sealing material is easily handleable and can be fully packed into e.g. a narrow and deep groove such as a V-shaped groove to form a regular-shaped seal.
