PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus equipped with an intermediate transfer belt capable of reducing the height of the whole apparatus. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with the intermediate transfer belt arranged so that the longitudinal direction of the whole belt stretched to be laid between at least two main rolls may be nearly horizontal in the apparatus body, a secondary transfer part constituted by arranging a secondary transfer roll for pressing the intermediate transfer belt against a backup roll, that is, one of the main rolls, a fixing apparatus arranged above the secondary transfer part, a plurality of toner cartridges horizontally arranged above the intermediate transfer belt, an ejecting and storing part for a transferred material arranged above the plurality of toner cartridges, a strage tray for a transferred material arranged under the intermediate transfer belt, a conveyance path for a recording material arranged so that the transferred material may be carried to the fixing apparatus passing through the secondary transfer part while coming close to one side face of the apparatus body, and a pre-roll arranged so as to define the approach angle of the intermediate transfer belt to the secondary transfer part.
