PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bumper beam which combines a continuous FRP layer and a discontinuous FRP layer and has excellent energy absorbing performance.SOLUTION: U-shaped cross sectional portions 31 of a bumper beam 23 comprises: upper walls 31a, lower walls 31b and bottom walls 31c formed by layering a continuous FRP layer 33 and a discontinuous FRP layer 34; and a plurality of vertical ribs 31f which are integrally formed with the discontinuous FRP layer 34 and connect the upper walls 31a, the lower walls 31b and the bottom walls 31c. When impact load is input, the continuous FRP layer 33 and the discontinuous FRP layer 34 are broken away in series from an outer side (a rear side) to an inner side (a front side) in a front-back direction of the U-shaped cross sectional portions 31. In addition, fiber and resin of the continuous FRP layer 33 and the discontinuous FRP layer 34 are broken apart. Thus, impact energy can be efficiently absorbed. Also, strength of the U-shaped cross sectional portions 31 is secured with the continuous FRP layer 33 which has high strength and the vertical ribs 31f can be easily formed with the discontinuous FRP layer 34 which has high moldability. |
