1489536 Stabilized acrylic acid esters BAYER AG 17 June 1976 [18 June 1975] 25114/76 Heading C2C Acrylic acid esters of polyhydric alcohols are stabilized by polymerization inhibitors which include unsaturated compounds as co-stabilizers wherein R<SP>1</SP> denotes hydrogen, alkyl (1-4 C), chlorine or alkoxy (1-4 C), R<SP>2</SP> denotes a hydrogen or alkyl (1-4 C), R<SP>3</SP> and R<SP>4</SP> denote a hydrogen, CH 2 OH, CH 2 OA, CHO, COOH, COOA, CONHAr, CH 2 Cl, CH 2 Br, CN or CONH-A where A denotes alkyl (1-6 C) and Ar an aryl radical (6-15 C). A proportion of 0À001 to 5% by weight based on the esters is used and the stabilizers and polymerization inhibitors may be introduced into the esterification reaction. Known polymerization inhibitors are listed and the costabilizers mentioned are styrene, α-methylstyrene, 4-tertbutylstyrene, 4-chloro-styrene, cinnamic acid or alcohol, cinnamaldehyde, p-methoxycinnamic acid, aldehyde and alcohol, cinnamyl chloride, cinnamic acid methyl or ethyl ester, cinnamic acid amide or anilide. Examples describe the preparation and stabilization of butane-1,4-diol, dimethylolpropane, and neopentyl glycol bis acrylates, trimethylol propane tris acrylate, butane-1,4-diol/trimethylolpropane mixed acrylate, propane - 1,3 - diol/trimethylolpropane acrylate, pentaerythritol tetraacrylate, trimethylolpropane diacrylate, and hexanediol bis-acrylate. The stabilized products may be used in lacquers, printing inks, moulding or casting compositions. |
