The double-wing side wall for body superstructures (10) consists of a lower folding wall (12) which is coupled to the body floor (15) and can be folded out of its closed position about approximately 80 DEG , and of a lifting wall (13) which forms the upper part of the side wall and can be pivoted up out of its closed position into the roof area of the body superstructure. The lifting wall (13) is guided in the region of its lower edge by means of connecting rods (24) and in the roof area (21) by means of guide arms (20) whose ends, remote from the lifting wall (13), are received in guide rails (22) in the roof area (21) of the body superstructure (10). In order to transmit the opening and closing movements from the folding wall (12) to the lifting wall (13), a link mechanism (30) consisting of two positively coupled slider cranks (31, 32) with cranks (34, 36) which are moved in opposite directions are provided, one crank (34) of the said mechanism (30) being connected fixed in terms of rotation to the folding wall (12) and the other crank (46) of the said mechanism (30) being connected fixed in terms of rotation to at least one connecting rod (24) which is coupled to the body superstructure (10). The ends, remote from the cranks, of the links (35, 47) of the slider cranks (31, 32) are also connected to one another and guided on a track (40) which extends in such a way that the crank of the thrust crank (32) assigned to the lifting wall (13) can be swivelled, deriving from the rotary angles of the crank (31) which interacts with the folding wall (12), through approximately 180 DEG about its crank axis (25) within its dead-centre positions. <IMAGE>
