The invention relates to a magnetic roller conveyor for chips, which achieves the object of reliably conveying coarse and fine chips with magnetic properties, in particular in the case of machine tools, to be precise irrespectively of whether they operate with or without a coolant. The essence of the invention is that the permanent magnets together with the pole shoes are fixedly mounted within the rotatable conveying roll, on a common shaft of the conveyor, and the pole shoes are designed in spiral form and are mounted between the permanent magnets magnetised in the axial direction, the polarity of the permanent magnets being effected such that the permanent-magnet axial sides resting on the pole shoe are repelled and the permanent-magnet sides resting against one another are attracted.
