PURPOSE:To obtain the stranded wire of good tightening to cause no deformation on the outmost layer under the condition of no tension at normal temp. after completion and having high space factor by forming the outmost layer with preheated element wire in the production of the titled stranded wire. CONSTITUTION:Plural circular section element wires 7, 7... for the innermost layer formation on a steel core 6 are stranded in layers by the 1st strand machine 3 and with passing a die 1 in succession a smoothing body work is made. This inner layer strand is then led into a cooling pipe 14a and cooled, and the element wire 8 for medium layer is stranded by the second strand machine 4 on the outer periphery thereof and treated similarly as above by a die 2 and cooling pipe 4b. The element wire 9 for the outmost layer is stranded on this inner layer strand finally but in this case the element wire 9 is heated by a heating device 13 and stranded on the outer periphery of the strand being formed on upto the medium layer sent from the pipe 14b and wound to a drum 10 after passing an outlet port die 16.
